The Pharmacy manages the procurement, storage, preservation, packaging, sterilization, compounding, preparation, dispensing or distribution of medicine in the hospital in order to provide a complete range of pharmacy services to both inpatients and outpatients.

LOCATION AND OPERATIONS

There are two pharmacies operating 24/7 in Perpetual Succour Hospital.

The Main Pharmacy is situated in the 2nd floor of SPC Medical Specialties Center catering both admitted patients and ambulatory patients from the doctors’ clinics.

Meanwhile, a Satellite Pharmacy is located in the ground floor of Our Lady of Chartres Building primarily catering to patients from the Emergency Room, Kidney Service, Medical Imaging Center and Pulmonary Department.

DISPENSING PHARMACY SERVICES

Ensures availability of high quality and cost effective medicines 24 hours a day.

Outpatient

The Pharmacy caters to ambulatory patients coming from the doctor's clinics. A prescription will be asked from the patient for medications which cannot be dispensed over-the-counter.

Inpatient

The Pharmacy implements a system of good dispensing procedure in accordance to national standards, guidelines and policies to ensure safe use and timely distribution of quality medicines to you 24 hours a day.

Pneumatic Tube Dispensing

Medications are delivered directly to the General Inpatient Areas

Cold-chain Management

Cold-chain management is strictly enforced to assure that the medications are kept potent from the moment it is delivered up to administration to our patients.

CLINICAL PHARMACY SERVICES

We have Clinical Pharmacists covering each general in-patient unit, monitoring the medication therapies of our admitted patients daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Collaborative Practice

The Clinical Pharmacy practice is aimed towards collaboration with other healthcare professionals, working hand in hand to achieve the therapeutic goals for our patients.

Medication Order Review

We check for the correctness and appropriateness of the medication order and correlate it with the data gathered in the patient profiles, such as laboratory results, medical history and diagnosis.

Drug Therapy Monitoring

A multidisciplinary approach is applied so that significant referrals arising from medications use are identified, addressed to the concerned individual or party, and resolved through communication channels and proper documentation

Unit Dose Drug Distribution System

Ensures that a 24-hour supply of medications is delivered to the nurse stations for patients with open accounts to eliminate excess charging and facilitate returns for discontinued medications.

ONCOLOGY PHARMACY SERVICES

The Oncology Pharmacy is dedicated in meeting the pharmaceutical needs of patients with cancer by providing sterile preparation of chemotherapeutic drugs, that are safe and of high quality.

We also educate our patients on how to manage their side effects.

Aseptic Technique

Since cytotoxic drugs are hazardous, it should be handled in a manner to ensure minimum exposure to personnel and make sure that the equipments used are free from any microorganism.

Oncology Pharmacist

The pharmacist carries out and reviews medication orders issued by our oncologists and prepares safe, high-quality, ready-to-administer drugs.

EXTEMPORANEOUS COMPOUNDING

We are committed to the formulation of safe and sterile compounded products.

Preparation of IV Fluids

Extemporaneous Compounding Services are offered by the PSH Pharmacy Department to cater to the individual needs of our patients.

Preparation of Paper Tabs

Large and small volume parenterals, paper tabs and other oral solutions are prepared when the medical needs of individual patients cannot be met by the use of a commercial drug product.

SERVICE HOURS

The pharmacy services in-patients and out patients is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Dispensing Pharmacy Section is open to both in-patients and out-patients 24 hours daily.
The Oncology Pharmacy Section is open to both in-patients and out-patients 8 hours a day, from 8:00am–4:00pm on Mondays to Fridays and 7:00am–3:00pm on Saturdays, excluding holidays and Sundays.
The Clinical Pharmacy Services is open to in-patients 8 hours a day from 9:00am–5:00pm Monday-Saturday, 8:00am–4:00pm on Sundays.
