The Kidney Service ranks as the earliest among the Perpetual Succour Hospital Centers of Excellence. It was established initially as an acute/chronic hemodialysis unit on May 13, 1984, when the first hemodialysis procedure in PSH was performed. Three years later, in 1987, the Kidney Service Transplant Unit performed the first kidney transplant outside Manila. To further specialist training in kidney diseases, their related disorders, and their treatment, the first accredited Adult Nephrology Fellowship Training Program outside Manila was established in 1997.

Now, more than four decades later, The Kidney Service, consisting of the Hemodialysis Unit, the Kidney Transplant Unit, and the recently organized Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, still strives to continue its commitment to quality, safety, and affordability with the indelible goal of saving lives and easing suffering.
