The Postgraduate Internship (PGI) Training Program of Perpetual Succour Hospital of Cebu, Inc. (PSH) follows the general guidelines set by the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC). PGIs undergo structured clinical rotations in major departments, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Community Medicine.
PGIs are also given clinical exposure in the Critical Care Units, Operating and Recovery Rooms, Ambulatory Care Services, and Emergency Room, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in various areas of patient care. For their elective rotations, PGIs have opportunities to rotate in Pathology, Radiology, Family Medicine, and Anesthesiology, further broadening their clinical knowledge and skills.
The curriculum for all rotations is outcome-based, with interns expected to acquire essential knowledge and clinical skills under the guidance of residents, fellows, and consultants. They participate in bedside rounds, lectures, conferences, and skills training activities designed to prepare them for future medical practice.
In addition to their regular departmental activities, PGIs are given opportunities to participate in team-building activities, Christmas celebrations, the Annual Quiz Bowl, and the Grand OSCE. They are also enrolled in Cracking D’ Boards, a comprehensive review program headed by Dr. Jarungchai S. Vatanagul, throughout their one-year training at PSH. The program is designed to reinforce their medical knowledge and help prepare them for the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE).

The Residency and Fellowship Training Programs of Perpetual Succour Hospital of Cebu, Inc. (PSH) are committed to developing competent, compassionate, and ethical physicians through structured, comprehensive, and outcomes-based medical training.
Our Residency Training Programs provide physicians with progressive clinical experience, supervised patient care, academic learning, and hands-on training across various medical specialties. The Fellowship Training Programs provide advanced subspecialty training for physicians who have completed their residency and seek to further develop expertise in their chosen fields. Fellows receive focused clinical training, participate in academic activities and research, and are given opportunities to enhance their skills in patient management, teaching, and professional leadership.

My residency training at Perpetual Succour Hospital was a transformative journey that shaped not only the radiologist I am today, but also the physician and person I aspire to be. PSH provided me with a strong foundation in clinical knowledge, technical skills, and, most importantly, patient-centered care. The training was challenging, but every difficult case, long duty, and learning opportunity helped build my confidence, resilience, and sense of responsibility. I am especially grateful to the consultants, especially mentors Dr. Ann Co, Dr. Gigi Chua and Dr. Ma. Luisa Tan, co-residents, and hospital staff who generously shared their knowledge and supported me throughout my training. Beyond the lessons learned from books and cases, I will always value the friendships, experiences, and memories I gained along the way. PSH prepared me well for the responsibilities of being an independent radiologist and opened opportunities for continued professional growth. To current trainees and future applicants, embrace every challenge, remain curious, and make the most of every opportunity to learn. Your time at PSH will be demanding, but it will be one of the most rewarding chapters of your career.
My experience during my surgery training at Perpetual Succour Hospital was one of the most challenging yet rewarding chapters of my professional life. The training provided me with a strong foundation in surgical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical skills, and, most importantly, compassion for patients. The guidance of my consultants, the camaraderie among co-residents, and the experiences we shared in the operating room, wards, and emergency room shaped me into the surgeon and physician I am today.
Beyond the skills and knowledge, PSH taught me the values of discipline, teamwork, humility, perseverance, and dedication to patient care. The memorable cases, long hours, difficult decisions, and friendships formed during training remain an important part of who I am.
